Mag-Bind® Blood & Tissue DNA HDQ 96 Kit: Genomic DNA Isolation From Blood and Tissue
The Mag-Bind® Blood & Tissue DNA HDQ 96 Kit has been designed to facilitate the isolation of top-tier genomic DNA from a diverse range of sources, including blood samples, saliva, swabs, mouse tails, dried blood spots, and cultured cells.
The Mag-Bind® Particles HDQ provides a rapid magnetic response time, which significantly minimizes the overall processing duration. This state-of-the-art system ingeniously combines the reversible nucleic acid-binding attributes of Mag-Bind® paramagnetic particles with Omega Bio-tek’s renowned tissue and blood DNA isolation mechanisms.
By harnessing the power of paramagnetic particles, it ensures the extraction of high quality DNA, which is perfectly tailored for immediate use in a vast array of downstream applications, such as Next Generation Sequencing, qPCR, PCR, and microarrays. The Mag-Bind® Blood & Tissue DNA HDQ 96 Kit can be scaled up to process 1 mL whole blood samples.

protocol for dried blood spots using the Mag-Bind Blood & Tissue DNA HDQ 96 Kit
- Cut or punch-out the blood spot from the filter paper (up to 200 µL blood can be used per spot). Tear or cut the filter paper into small pieces and place them into a 2-mL nuclease-free microcentrifuge tube.
- Add 250 µL PBS.
- Incubate at 65 °C for 1 hour. Vortex briefly every 20 minutes.
- Add 25 µL Proteinase K Solution. Vortex at maximum speed for 15 seconds.
- Incubate at 65 °C for 30 minutes. Vortex briefly several times during incubation.
- Centrifuge at ≥13,000 x g for 5 minutes.
- Transfer the supernatant to a nuclease-free 2-mL microcentrifuge tube.
- Add 290 µL AL Buffer and vortex, or pipet up and down 20 times, to mix. Optional: Add 5 µL RNase A to each sample. Vortex to mix. Let sit at room temperature for 2 minutes.
- Continue from step 5 (page 6) of the ‘Blood Protocol’ (250 µL) on the Mag-Bind Blood & Tissue DNA HDQ 96 Kit manual.
