Product Overview

The Analytik Jena qTOWER iris Series is a family of open real-time PCR thermal cyclers available in 96-well, 96-well touchscreen and 384-well configurations. Each platform supports flexible fluorescence detection with individually selectable color modules and multiplexing of up to six targets.

The 96-well systems use a gold-coated silver sample block and are available with PC control or an integrated 10-inch touchscreen. The qTOWER iris 384 uses an aluminum-alloy block for higher-throughput workflows and is controlled from a compatible PC. Standard and UV-ready versions are available for each model family.

Each listed configuration includes color module 1 according to the current manufacturer ordering information. Additional color modules, the UV-A color module, optional software modules, computer hardware, installation and service coverage must be confirmed in the Jant Pharmacal quotation. Color modules are selected according to the assay’s dyes and detection requirements. The instruments provide six optical positions, so the installed module set must be specified when ordering.

Example dyes are taken from the manufacturer brochure. The selected module, assay dye, spectral properties, crosstalk requirements and software settings must be evaluated together. UV-A operation requires a UV-ready or appropriately upgraded instrument and the applicable UV-A color module.

The standard qTOWER iris is a PC-controlled 96-well system. The qTOWER iris touch adds an integrated 10-inch touchscreen for stand-alone operation. The qTOWER iris 384 provides a 384-well block for higher-throughput research and is PC-controlled. Each format is available in a standard or UV-ready version.

UV-ready configurations are prepared for applications in the UV-A wavelength range. The UV-A color module is not automatically included because the listed instruments include color module 1. Confirm the required module configuration when ordering.

The instrument provides six optical positions. The installed set can be selected from seven available color modules and a protein module, subject to the instrument configuration and application requirements.

The qTOWER iris supports up to six-target multiplexing when the installed modules, dyes, assay design, chemistry and software settings are compatible.

The manufacturer states that the instrument does not require a passive reference for optical normalization. An assay formulation may nevertheless include a reference dye or have other specific requirements, so follow the applicable assay instructions.

An optional 21 CFR Part 11 module is available for compatible qPCRsoft versions and includes functions such as audit trails, electronic signatures and user management. Compliance depends on the complete validated system and the laboratory’s procedures, not the software module alone.
