Accutest Universal Pathogen DNA/RNA Extraction and Purification Kit

The Accutest Universal Pathogen DNA/RNA Extraction and Purification Kit provides a rapid, reliable magnetic-bead method for isolating total pathogen nucleic acids from a broad range of specimen types.

Supported specimens include nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swabs, aspirates and washes; bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid; tracheal aspirates; plasma and serum; urine; and nail specimens.

Purified DNA/RNA is suitable for PCR, qRT-PCR and other downstream molecular applications. The protocol is compatible with major automated liquid-handling platforms, including KingFisher, Biomek and Hamilton, as well as other compatible magnetic-bead systems.

Universal Magnetic-Bead Purification

The kit combines specimen lysis, magnetic binding, washing and elution reagents in a scalable 96-well format. The workflow may be performed using a 96-well magnetic rack or implemented on a compatible automated liquid-handling platform.

Workflow Overview

The Accutest Universal Pathogen DNA/RNA Extraction and Purification Kit uses a straightforward magnetic-bead workflow:

  1. Prepare and lyse the specimen according to the applicable specimen instructions.
  2. Bind pathogen nucleic acids to the magnetic beads.
  3. Magnetize and wash to remove residual contaminants.
  4. Dry the magnetic beads and elute the purified DNA/RNA.
  5. Proceed to PCR, qRT-PCR or another downstream molecular application.

Always follow the current Instructions for Use for reagent preparation, required volumes, incubation conditions, specimen pretreatment and safety requirements.
