Detection of mecA as a molecular target does not by itself establish gene expression,
phenotypic susceptibility or clinical treatment response.

Standard Respiratory RT-PCR Panels FAQ
What is the difference between Respiratory Panel I and Panel II?
The two panels share 22 target entries. Panel I additionally includes Enterovirus D,
Moraxella catarrhalis and Pan-Adenovirus. Panel II additionally includes
Haemophilus influenzae type b, human rhinovirus, Klebsiella pneumoniae /
Klebsiella oxytoca and mecA.
How many targets are included in each panel?
Respiratory Panel I includes 25 assay targets plus RNase P (RPP30).
Respiratory Panel II includes 26 assay targets plus RNase P (RPP30).
Is MasterMix included?
Yes. MasterMix is included with the panel mixes.
Which formats are available?
Both panels are available in clear and white pre-spotted 96-well and 384-well
plates, as well as 100-reaction tube formats.
What reaction volumes are used?
The standard configuration uses a 20 µL reaction volume for 96-well formats
and a 10 µL reaction volume for 384-well formats.
Does detection of mecA establish phenotypic resistance?
No. Panel II lists mecA as a molecular research target. Detection of a genetic
marker does not by itself establish gene expression, phenotypic susceptibility
or a clinical treatment response.
How are the panels shipped and stored?
The panels are shipped on dry ice and should be stored at –15°C to –25°C.
Are these panels intended for diagnostic use?
No. Accutest® Standard Respiratory RT-PCR Panels I & II are offered
for Research Use Only and are not for use in diagnostic procedures.
